Boosts, your own code on any site

A Boost is your own script or stylesheet for a site. Hide the parts of GitHub you never use, fix a font on a docs site, add a button that’s missing. Boosts are Flecha’s take on Arc’s Boosts, written as TypeScript and CSS.

On the site you want to change, press ⌥⌘B. Flecha opens the Boosts page with a script for that site, ready to edit. You can also:

  • type boost in the command bar and pick Edit boost script for or Edit boost styles for the site,
  • open the Boosts page from Settings › Boosts › Open Boosts, type a site such as github.com, choose Script or Styles and click Add.

Save with ⌘S.

File Runs on When you save
github.com.ts github.com and its subdomains Open tabs of the site reload
github.com.css github.com and its subdomains Applies right away, no reload
all.css Every site Applies right away
  • www. is dropped from the name, so github.com also covers www.github.com.
  • Scripts are TypeScript. Types are stripped, not checked, so a type error won’t stop a Boost from running.
  • Scripts run in the page itself, after the page’s HTML has loaded, so they can read and change the page and its JavaScript.
  • Errors show in the page’s console, starting with [Flecha boost github.com.ts].
  • A ⚡ next to a tab in the sidebar means a Boost runs there (all.css doesn’t count).

An example that hides lock files in GitHub pull requests:

github.com.ts
export {};
const lockfiles = document.querySelectorAll<HTMLElement>('[data-path$=".lock"]');
for (const file of lockfiles) file.hidden = true;

And one for every site:

all.css
::selection { background: #3aa6d9; }

Boosts are saved inside your Flecha profile, not as files on disk. Delete one with Delete on the Boosts page. Deleting a style removes it right away; a deleted script keeps running until the page reloads.
